‘Twas the night before Christmas
When all through the warehouse,
Not a creature was stirring
But a wee little mouse.
From high on his perch
He peered down from above,
He saw hustle and bustle
A lone nitrile glove.
This is unusual
He thought to himself,
Standing 6 feet apart
A mask on each elf.
How strange for the mouse
To see all those vials,
Twisting and turning
The line stretched for miles.
But where were all the toys
For the girls, boys, and teens,
They had been traded for vials
To fight COVID-19.
It all started in March
With clinical trials,
Santa stepped in
To produce all those vials.
He retooled the workshop
To make the vaccine,
He sanitized each station
The shop was quite clean.
Two vials for each stocking
That’s all we would need,
A two-part vaccine
He moved at warp speed.
He recruited new elves,
Black, brown and white,
He put the women in charge
Injustice he’d fight.
He tested the virus
On some elf volunteers
He spent time in the lab
To quell all the fears.
It was 90% effective,
Only some elves lost hair,
A few grew 5 limbs
But none seemed to care.
Our results are quite good,
He told the FDA.
After getting their blessing,
He loaded his sleigh.
The North Pole was perfect
To keep the shots cold,
The vaccines would stay potent
They wouldn’t get old.
We’ll stamp out the virus
He shouted with glee,
With a long trip ahead
He booked an Air BNB.
He worried the children
Would miss all those toys,
But he was bringing good health
To all girls and boys.
No more zoom learning
Back to classes they’d go,
All Moms rejoiced
It’s back to making some dough.
No more stay-at-home orders
And self-quarantine,
Good-bye social distancing
This virus was mean.
No more government handouts
No more PPP loans,
We’ll see our loved ones in person
Forget the cell phones.
Life will be normal
The griping will stop,
Back to indoor dining
Champagne corks will pop.
The invisible enemy
Will be gone at long last,
Thanks to Santa’s vaccine
It’ll be a thing of the past.
It’s business as usual
There will be no doubt,
From LA to Wuhan
Hooray they will shout.
Then from the sky he will say
For the whole world to hear,
Merry Christmas, Good-bye virus,
Happy New Year!
