Welcome to Part II of our 4-part blog series on custom shelf displays. As we mentioned in our series opener, custom shelf displays offer a number of advantages over inline merchandising alternatives. For many types of products, they can provide a viable means to increase brand awareness, increase product sell-through, and drive a higher return on investment than options that involve utilizing existing store shelving. For example, one of the displays we’ll share today generated an astounding 3400% return on investment.
Custom shelf displays can be extremely effective as either a primary placement merchandiser or in helping to secure secondary placement with a retailer. If you missed Part I of our series, you can check it out here. Let’s take a look at our next 10 examples.
- Petco Vitamin Floor Display– This 2-sided mobile vitamin merchandiser features MDF construction with 8 shelves, 8 hooks, a side brochure holder, and base, side, shelf, and header branding.
2.) Fabritech Bedding Display– We designed the Fabritech MDF floor glorifier display to showcase 3 pillows on branded slanted shelves and included a top bin for mattress and pillow protectors along with a PVC header sign.
3.) Leslie’s Island Shelf Display– We designed this 2-tiered mobile island shelf merchandiser for Leslie’s Pool Supply. It was designed to display robotic pool sweepers and hand-held pool cleaners. Engineered using heavy-duty construction, we incorporated double layered shelves with aluminum stand-offs, a center graphic panel on both sides, and product shelf graphics.
4.) Mexican Coke Rack– We made the 4-shelf Mexican Coke rack below for the grocery channel. This display featured solid yellow pine construction and included screen printed shelf bottoms, wire shelf grids, metal shelf corners, screen-printed side and shelf graphics, and a PVC header sign.
5.) Innovacyn Counter Shelf Display– This simple 3-shelf custom counter display was constructed out of unfinished OSB board to create a natural look. We added branded shelf lips with a side brochure holder and a PVC header sign.
6.) Tieman’s Fusion Coffees Floor Display– We designed this coffee display to go into Sprout’s stores. We constructed the display out of pre-finished China birch and left the edges raw. We incorporated base and side vinyl graphics and spiced it up with a die-cut header sign with dimensional graphic accents. This is the display that generated a 3400% return on investment which you can read about in our mini case study blog post. We wrote a follow-up blog entitled How an Unknown Coffee Brand Outsold Starbucks 17 to 1 and Generated a 3400% Return on Their Retail Display Investment, which you might also find of interest.
7.) Muscle Milk Shelf Merchandiser– This simply designed versatile 5-shelf floor merchandiser is shoppable from 4 sides. We used clear-coated solid Poplar for the uprights and pre-finished Birch plywood for the shelves. We finished it with die-cut PVC shelf and header graphics.
8.) Fat Brain Toys Floor Display– Custom shelf displays don’t have to be boring. They can be fun. That was the idea behind the 3-sided floor display we created below for Fat Brain Toys. The primary material we used was pre-finished China birch plywood which we framed in colorfully painted solid pine. We added colorful shelf edge banding, wood rails for hooks, a bottom dump bin for bulk items, and attention-grabbing direct-printed graphics.
9.) Cherished Girl T-Shirt Cubby Shelf Display– This mobile 2-sided spinning t-shirt display features 10 shelves for t-shirts with adjacent clear acrylic sleeves to display t-shirt graphics. We used a bright pink laminate on MDF with black edge banding and added a die-cut MDF header sign with direct printed graphics on both sides.
10.) 5Fin Shelf Display– We created the 11-shelf apparel merchandiser below to have a strong retail presence. Like the display above, it has 10 shelf cubbies, but this display is constructed out of solid pine with a stained walnut finish. It includes a center hang bar and additional center platform shelf. We added full-length side PVC graphics and a solid wood framed header with a burlap back drop and a die-cut PVC graphic on 2 sides.
That’s it for today. We hope you’ll check out Part III of our series in which we will share 10 more examples of custom shelf display ideas.
