Welcome to Part III in our 3-part series on retail wood displays made in the USA. Throughout this series, we’ve been discussing the rationale for and benefits of making wood displays domestically. In addition, we have been sharing numerous examples of wood displays made in our millwork shop in Oceanside, CA. So far, we have shared 17 retail wood display examples that were intended to illustrate the range of possibilities with respect to design features, material choices, and finishes. If you missed our first 2 posts in this series, be sure to check out Part I and Part II. We also mentioned a great resource to see other examples of retail wood displays which draws from 21 of our best blogs on wood displays: : The Best of Our Wood Display Blogs- All in One Place.
Today we’ll share the remaining 8 examples:
1) Obvious Wines Floor Display- Not long after securing funding from Lori Greiner on Shark Tank, Obvious Wines approached us in search of a POP display that would help to set their brand apart in the highly competitive wine marketplace. We designed the display shown below which combines a clean white MDF structure with dark stained pine. We created 4 glorifier slots to showcase the company’s 4 best selling wines and added floating shelves, each of which could accommodate a dozen bottles. We added direct printed graphics on the header and base as well as smaller info graphics under each of the glorifier bottles.
2. Mr. Boddington’s Counter Display- Challenged with creating a counter display with a premium look to merchandise its distinctive line of stationery sets and greeting cards, we designed the display shown below. The display featured solid wood construction with multiple tiers. We used a dark walnut stain to help create a rich look and used brass rods for the front rail and to attach the removable header. We direct printed the gold logo and graphics on the header to help promote the Mr. Boddington brand.3. Boral Roofing Sample Box- Boral Roofing was in search of an alternative to the corrugated sample boxes it had been sending to architects who have traditionally played an important role in specifying roofing products. The company was interested in a more durable solution that could more effectively communicate the premium nature of its products. We designed the bamboo sample box shown below which we constructed out of clear-coated carbonized bamboo. We designed it with side carrying handles, a top that can be easily removed using finger pulls, adjustable dividers to accommodate sample products of different sizes, and a laser engraved front-facing logo.
4) MantelMount Floor Display- We made the dealer showroom display shown below for MantelMount’s line of award-winning above-fireplace pull-down TV mounts. The display featured solid wood and plywood construction which was necessary due to the size of the display and the weight-bearing requirements. The design provided the flexibility to accommodate a variety of different mounts. We incorporated a digitally printed fireplace graphic and header logo.5) P.L.A.Y. Counter Glorifier- Our next example falls into the super simple category. P.L.A.Y. was looking for a very basic countertop riser that it could use to highlight its line of premium dog beds and unique pet toys. We made this display out of birch plywood and designed it to have a simple base tray to showcase products and a removable back panel with an embedded digital media player to tell the company’s story. We added vinyl header and base graphics.6. Pura Vida Bracelets- We made the bracelet stands shown below for Pura Vida using solid wood dowels and pine plywood. We created a white washed weathered finish to match the brand’s vibe and then screen printed the logo on the base front plate.
7. Riedel Mobile Floor Shelf Display- We made the mobile floor merchandiser shown below for large format liquor retailers. We used MDF with a black melamine finish, colored edge banding for contrast, and casters for mobility. The shelves were designed to accommodate boxed product. We direct printed the side and header graphics to help promote the Riedel brand.
8.) Roshambo Baby- Roshambo Baby was interested in a countertop case they could use to merchandise their line of flexible, polarized sunglasses for babies and kids. We built the case shown to be able to stand on a table, accommodate boxed product, and tell the brand story. We used pre-finished birch plywood, incorporated a hinged door with front-side and back-side graphics, and added cubby graphics on the inside back panel.
We hope you have enjoyed this series on retail wood displays made in the USA. We encourage you to consider using wood or wood composite materials for your next display while taking advantage of the many benefits of domestic millwork manufacturing.
